I am a primary trained teacher and have over 12 years of experience teaching across the 3-11 range, all within schooIs with an Ofsted grading of outstanding. I specialise in English and have written personalised phonic programmes with impressive results, which included being acknowledged within the top 5% of schools in the country with an overall Year 1 screening test pass rate of 96 per cent over four classes.
Originally embarking my teaching career in the North East of England, I took on multiple roles in addition to class teacher; including PE subject leader, Maths subject leader and Professional Tutor for Gateshead 3-7 SCITT.
After relocating to London and taken on the role of English subject lead, I worked at two contrasting London based schools, the first is accredited as being the largest primary school in Wandsworth, with an expanding four form entry intake across two sites. The second is a smaller two form entry school in an under privileged area of Kennington.
Working as Assistant Head Teacher in the latter post as EYFS and Key Stage 1 phase leader, I also led a bespoke NQT programme for teachers within Lambeth and took on the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead. During my time in this position, I was part of the Senior Leadership Team which moved the school from good to outstanding in 2017, at a time when Nick Gibb also accredited the school as being in ‘the top 3% of schools for progress in England and top of similar schools in London for achievement.’
Having worked for two National Teaching Schools, I have supported a wealth of trainee, newly qualified, recently qualified and experienced teachers in developing their practice and have delivered a number of training sessions. I joined North Manchester Initial Teacher Training Partnership in September 2018 as Primary Lead, where I manage both the 3-7 and 5-11 programmes.
