our vision

North Manchester ITT Partnership was accredited in November 2014, previous to this Manchester Communication Academy was a ‘School Direct’ lead school working in partnership and accredited by Kingsbridge SCITT. After working successfully for three years with Kingsbridge we applied for accreditation to enable us to provide distinct Greater Manchester ITT provision. We work in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University to provide the PGCE qualification for core trainees.

Our aims are to ensure that:

  • NMITTP trainees are well equipped to inspire, engage, stimulate and promote students learning through the teaching of outstanding lessons

  • Partners schools can recruit high quality professionals who meet local need

  • NMITTP alumni can access relevant continued professional development and be supported in career progression

We offer both salaried route and core training route places across primary (3-7) & (5-11) and secondary (11-16).   The partnership includes 2 secondary schools and several primary schools. We also work with a number of associate partnership schools. Many of our former trainees are employed in partner schools and are now mentors themselves or in positions of leadership.

Planned recruitment numbers for 2019/20 are approximately thirty trainees; we aim to grow our cohort slowly to ensure that we maintain the personalised approach and quality training that we have created.

Identified Key Strengths Include:

  • The partnership’s history of successful teacher training - trainee outcomes (retention, outcomes, employment)

  • The personalised programme that enables trainees to progress at a challenging, yet supportive rate

  • The emphasis on reflection and  learning dialogue

  • Extensive quality assurance systems that ensure outstanding provision and training

  • The requirement  for non-PGCE trainees to present some practitioner research  which often focuses on a local or national priority

  • The intention for trainees to be employed within the partnership and Greater Manchester schools

  • Partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University
