Your course will normally cover an academic year within a substantive training school and contrasting shorter placement in another school. You will be in school Monday -Thursday, with Fridays allocated for professional studies, subject and phase knowledge sessions and independent research.

Age range 5-11.

This course will enable you to specialise in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You will complete focused placement in 2 phases whilst gaining experience and knowledge throughout the complete primary age range. There are 2 routes that we offer:

Training Route

Training route trainees are classed as full time students and will pay tuition fees. You would be eligible to apply for student finance and to receive a bursary or scholarship.

This route is ideal for those with less school experience and you will be supernumery. Find out more about student finance

Salaried QTS only route:

You should have worked for at least 3 years outside of education and have experience of working successfully with children. You need to be ready to teach and will have a timetable from September 1st; you will receive a salary as an unqualified teacher and your training fees are covered.

You will normally have a supporting school that wants to enable you to become qualified and is willing to join our partnership. Occasionally we have salaried places within our partnership; in these cases you do not need a supporting school; for September 2019 entry applicants must have a supporting school who are willing to employ you through your training year.

PGCE Training:

This route is open to all potential trainees who want to train to teach in a school based setting. You will be supernumerary and will be gradually introduced to teaching. You will pay £9,000 training fees and may be eligible for a bursary. You will complete your PGCE with Manchester Metropolitan University and access all student services and support.
